Abolfazl Adinezadeh


Abolfazl Adinezadeh was a playful 17-year-old boy from the city of Mashhad, in northeastern Iran. He was his sister’s best friend. An extremely joyous young man, he was known for always making people laugh. Abolfazl loved posing in front of the mirror in elevators, taking selfies of himself, and mischievously telling his sister: “Damn, I’m good looking right?”

Abolfazl was killed around noon on October 8, 2022 while the people of Mashhad were out on the streets protesting for their basic human rights. Abolfazl was in front of Ferdowsi University when the regime forces surrounded him. According to his sister’s account of what she heard from hospital staff who treated him, security forces first attacked him by tasing his neck. Once on his knees, he was shot with a shotgun at close range. They said that he took 24 rubber bullets to his chest and legs. Due to the severity of his injuries, he died one hour after he was taken to hospital.
